Meshawn Graham June 29, 2005
Training with the Speed Performance Training program under the direction of Steve Hieskell has been one of my family's greatest investments ever. With my consistent attendance and Steve's dedication I was able to go above and beyond my goals in track and field. Just eleven months ago in July(2004, before my 9th grade year in High School) I had peaked for the track season in the 400 meter dash at a 59.2. By then I had been having a hard time trying to break 58 seconds. January of 2005, I started my normal weight lifting program with my dad to get stronger for this years track season. At this time my goal for the 400 meters was 55.9. Just getting down to a 57 was going to be difficult let alone a 55 seeing as how I hadn't even ran a 58 yet. A little after February of 2005 my family and I were introduced to the Speed Performance Training program.... it has been nothing but progression since. From last years 400-meter time (59.2) I have dropped 5 whole seconds (54.2) and hope to drop 1 more second before the summer is over... And surprisingly my 200-meter time has dropped 2 seconds (26.5 to 24.6) as well. Not only do I have 2 amazing pr's (personal records) I hold E.L. Bowsher High School's girls 200 (24.6) and 400 meter (54.2) records, the city league record for the 400 (54.4), and I am also the Division 1 Girls 200 meter State Champion, and I finished 3rd at state in the 400 meters. Thanks to Steve and Speed Performance I was able to accomplish these great things all my freshman year.*************************************************
Congratulation goes out to Meshawn Graham of Bowsher High School for winning the 2006 USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships in the 400-meter intermediate girls race. Meshawn ran her best time ever with a 53.57.
